I’m obsessed with the UK and Ireland too. Do I think they are better than us? Yes, yes I do. Do I wish more than anything I was born there? Yeah, except that I wouldn’t have Manly Man and what good is all those biscuits if I don’t have him?
Talking to Avitable via IM I replied to him with “that’s so safe” which is a term from England. Safe means cool. It doesn’t matter and 99.9% of people I talk to have no idea what I’m saying when I use these terms, I still use them. Also most of my television programming now is British and even though most people I know don’t watch any of these shows I don’t much care.
I watch Skins, Misfits, Outnumbered, The Inbetweeners, Secret Diary of a Call Girl (it’s a Showtime show but it’s based in England), Green Wing, Being Human and I even have some shows I have on my list to watch. I know I’m forgetting a bunch of shows but it’s just really hard to keep track. Anyway, it’s really hard to not let these wankahs get to you.
Let’s look at how the transformation happened:
Growing up I watched Fawlty Towers with my family, it’s a kind of comedy you just don’t see very often.
Then there was the music of Keane, Damien Rice and others…
Ewan McGregor had a lot to do with it, although I tried to find a Trainspotting or Shallow Grave clip, this will have to do.
I think we can all agree that Skins (UK of course) put me over the edge. Suddenly I was things like “that’s so safe,” “fancy a spliff?” and bollocks, never mind I never ever have a spliff.
Then we topped it off with Misfits, just in case I wasn’t in deep enough already. Now I call everyone slags and chavs and monkey sluts.
I hate when they turn off the embed option wankahs
Now I just have to find someone to adopt me in England so I can be a proper stalker of my favorite shows.
Share and Enjoy
