So I had a few days off and the other day I was watching Oprah. What else does one do on their day off when they have no money? Anyway, there was a commercial about Oprah over the years since her show is ending and one of the things she said was something about “everyone wants to be heard.â€
I sat there and realized, that’s why I blog. Yeah, part of it is being creative and part of it is also about expressing my feelings so my husband doesn’t have to listen to me drone on while we’re trying to get to sleep. In some ways my blog itself is a friend of mine, I can spill my guts until the servers go down.
I think we blog because we want others to hear what we have to say and to care about what we say. We want people to admit that they too feel the same way or have been through the same thing. It’s about connecting to the world around you.
Blogging should be about finding a community of people who want to take the time to listen to what you have drifting through your mind at that moment. Blogging should be about reaching out for people all over the world to find someone who gets you at least for that moment.
I don’t know how many times I’ve written about this but whenever I think there is no point in blogging I have to remind myself what is really behind it all. Whenever I think that nobody cares to write out their thoughts and opinions anymore, everyone just tweets instead, I eventually come across a heartfelt post. Whenever I feel like blogging has become all business I remember all the great comments I get, whether it’s 7 comments or 1, and all the great posts I read of others that make me feel connected to something.
I just want to feel connected, for a little bit. I just want to be heard once and a while.
