The Aurora Jumping Bean

If you could go back and catch one thing and one thing only on camera, that obviously isn’t already, what would it be?

I’m tempted to say the ceremony of my wedding that wasn’t recorded by the professional videographer. I’m also tempted to say the moment when Manly Man serenaded me on our first date. But those are etched in my memory forever so I really don’t need the video, plus what I have in my head is probably much better than the actual moment.

The memory I would record would be one involving Aurora, but before you roll your eyes at me let me explain.

Aurora as a baby

We were living in our first apartment, the tiny closet I like to call it, and Manly Man was visiting his mom in Florida. We only just recently adopted Aurora so she was a little baby full of energy and angst (now she’s a middle aged cat who naps a lot with a lot of angst). I was on the phone with the Man when Aurora walks by the full length mirror.

For those of you who’ve had kittens before you may already know where I’m going with this.

She stopped suddenly, eyes popping out with the cat she sees in the mirror and starts freaking the fuck out. The best way I can describe this is, you know how in the cartoons someone eats a Mexican jumping bean and starts bouncing from side to side? Well that is exactly what she did. She bounced in all directions.

I think it was one of the top 5 moments in my life I laughed so hard I ended up on the floor. To this day it bums me out I’m the only one who witnessed it. Well, myself and Aurora but something tells me she’d deny it.

I love that story! So funny. I’ve seen cats do that before. Our fat cat climbed up on the railing and hung over it trying to catch his tail, next thing you know he was doing flips through the rungs of the rail and just kept going! It was our 1 year wedding anniversary. We almost peed ourselves!!
