Hugging It Out
Gwen posted this on her tumblr yesterday:
I am not a touchy kind of person. I never have been and I never will be. That being said I do believe that sometimes, everyone needs a hug. I tend to put people in to groups of “people I think would give good hugs†and “people who I think would give shitty hugsâ€. ~Robert Downey Jr.
I’m a big believer in hugs, those that I love I hug a lot. I hug my husband several times a day most of the time. I hug my furkids even though honestly most cats, particularly mine, are not the hugging kind. The moment I met Gwen the first thing I did was hug her.
I think it says a lot about a person whether they are a good hugger or not. I’m totally turned off by people who do more of a 1/2 hug or there is nothing in the hug. If you are going to hug, give a real one, that’s what I believe.
Looking back, some of the people I’ve been unsure about have always been horrible huggers or maybe they are just bad huggers with me but I kind of doubt it. Some of the most intense moments in movies, in my opinion, have not been kisses but hugs. There is a scene in Slumdog Millionaire where the boy and the girl he has been searching for finally get to hug (not kiss) and it gave me chills.
There were a few things that went into consideration when I met Manly Man. First he had to be cute (check). Second he had to be funny (check). He also had to give great hugs and nobody hugs like he does. Nobody.
Oh and I must agree with Gwen, Downey looks like he’d be a great hugger. I just get a sense about huggers, you can weed out the good ones from the bad ones just by looking at them.
