Up in the Air

upintheair

As the yearly holiday movie that we didn’t exactly see on Xmas but close enough it’s the movie Up in the Air starring George Clooney. Feel good movie? Not exactly

The Basics: Guy spends the majority of his time flying to different cities to fire people and kind of likes this life. He ends up falling for a woman who also travels city to city and has to take a girl around with him to show her the ropes.

The Good: It’s real and it’s funny and it’s honest. This is what I love in a movie. You fall in love with the characters and they aren’t perfect by any means. George Clooney is the best I’ve ever seen him, he is charming, seriously funny and vulnerable (which I don’t think we see often with him). Is it a feel good movie? I’m not sure about that but it makes you feel.

The Bad: It had it’s slow points, the movie probably could have been a little shorter but in the end I didn’t even mind the slow points, I was just happy to go along for the ride.

Rating: ★★★★½

I just wanted to say The Hurt Locker is going through the theaters again, so if you didn’t get to see it before take another look at the listings. Move to Atlanta if necessary.

I cannot wait to see this! Although I haven’t seen every single movie Clooney’s every made, I’m pretty sure you’re right that he doesn’t often portray vulnerable characters.
