My Big Mouth

70% of my holidays were me banging my head against the wall to keep me from going completely insane. I did have a few nice moments though. My Chanukah dinner was nice, nobody pissed anyone off that I know of. The Xmas party at SILs was nice too, in fact it was particularly nice without all the kids (shhh don’t tell her I said that). Even better was watching episodes of Weeds by myself and finishing off season 5 of Dexter with Manly Man, but more on that later.

I nearly took off MILs head in a series of fights. Before the series of fights we were getting along great. She’s great to talk to when it’s just talking. She’s an easy person to talk to, problem is when you decide to be honest with her when it’s something she doesn’t want to hear, it doesn’t go so well. It may not be a good idea to tell your MIL she acts like a child and that her sons deserve a better mother. Whoops.

See: I can’t keep my big mouth shut.

Then was Xmas eve which involves going out for Chinese food with my family and seeing a movie. Instead this year my dad chose to make a spectacle of my brother showing up a 1/2 hour late and I decided to have a nervous breakdown and leave. I know that doesn’t exactly seem fun but it is, trust me. Or at least it was probably entertaining to the family at the table next to us.

See: I really can’t keep my big mouth shut.

But it’s over. Also despite my dad trying to be his usual stubborn self he wanted to make the night up to us and we had a re-do last night. We got Chinese food and saw Up in the Air (review to come tomorrow). I guess there are Xmas dad swallowing his pride.

I slept, played with my Wii, and read a couple of novels. My Hannukwanzaramadamas was awesome.

I’m glad take 2 with your family went much better. Perfect, Hollywood Christmases just aren’t real or realistic, and I wish people didn’t feel they need to live up to that expectation.

I agree with Barb (Although the Hollywood movie “National Lampoons Christmas Vacation” did cover the stress pretty well. LOL)

People, for some reason or another, go insane this time of year and pick fights with one another. Just recently I have had to hold my tongue a few times, because I really don’t want to get in a screaming match with someone during the “holidays”.
