Proud Mama

So I came home yesterday to a funny story shared by Manly Man.

Keep in mind while Aurora has “hunted” a lot of things I have never once in her 6 years seen her kill anything, even a bug. She tends to attack things and then kind of just wander off like she never cared to begin with.

We had a stale hamburger bun so as usual he decided to toss it in the backyard for the birds. He through the stale bun :lmao: into the backyard like a frisbee and suddenly he saw Aurora perk up and eyes bug out (as she often does when she sees a bird or you know, a dust bunny that looks like a bug).

She then got into hunter mode, getting down low to the ground and she bolted off towards the bun. She attacked it with verocity and gripped it in her mouth like the prey that it was. Then she vigorously shook it back and forth to break it’s neck (this is apparently what cats do with all prey, be it a mouse or a sock or whatever).

When the bun was clearly dead and she had won she decided to eat it.

Could I be more proud?

I almost didn’t post this because of Snackiepoo losing her kitty FC to cancer but instead, whether good or bad, I thought it would be nice to try to make people smile a bit today with all the sadness all around.

Reminds me of my dog going into hunter mode. She spotted some squirrels, crouched low, then slumped on the ground and took a nap. I couldn’t feed her outside because pigeons would eat her food while she sat three feet away. Your cat is much more ferocious.

@Grant, :lmao: well she likes to pretend she’s ferocious, she is anything but.

What’s with the vigorous-head-shake-death-to-all-toys thing? Jeb does that constantly with inanimate objects and just sniffs anything alive? 🙂

@Linwood’s Girl, from what my husband tells me, it’s to “break it’s neck”

Most definitely that is the mechanical “purpose”….but both cats and dogs do it…..odd. AND…whenever he comes in contact with something WITH a neck….he just sniffs. I guess he’s a lover not a fighter :jebus:

@Linwood’s Girl, oh sorry, i get it. that is weird, i have spent 6 years trying to figure out why my cats do the weird stuff they do and i haven’t learned much. they’re just weird, like us.

My cats generally don’t attack inanimate objects (why bother when they can beat up each other?), but every now and then Bella will get all freaked out about a scarf or something odd like that until she determines it’s not dangerous.

My male cat did the same thing once to a donut that accidently fell out of my bag. He was carrying it around like it was his latest kill, all proud. LOL!

See, they eat the food but leave the bugs for me to clean up. Or rather, for my husband to clean up depending on its size and gross-out factor. What’s with that???
