The New Fall Season Kickoff

For most people seasons are broken up by sports or by the weather but for me, it’s television. There is either the tv season or it’s off season. For me the real tv season starts tonight with my beloved House, this will be the first time I watch the show live since I caught up on it over the summer seasons 1-5. When I become devoted to a show I go all in.

So to copy Avitable a little bit here is how we’ll break it down:

Returning Shows That Make Me Tingly

  • House (last night was like porn for me)
  • Mad Men (already started)
  • 30 Rock
  • The Office
  • How I Met Your Mother (still one of my favorite sitcoms)
  • Two and a Half Men
  • The Big Bang Theory (I love this show more every season)

Returning Shows I Still Kind Of Feel Required To Watch

  • Desperate Housewives (I don’t really care anymore but I am tied down after all these years)
  • Scrubs (I don’t think the show should still be on the air)
  • So You Think You Can Dance (I love the dancing but it’s just not what it once was)

New Shows I Will Watch on a Trial Basis

  • Community (not convinced yet)
  • Parks and Recreation (new to me as I’m just testing it out now)
  • Modern Family (it made me laugh in the previews)
  • Eastwick (curious)
  • Bored to Death (so far I like it)
  • Cougar Town (I still feel like I owe Courtney Cox for the 10 years of Friends)

Shows I Didn’t Even Consider Watching

  • Vampire Diaries (enough with the fucking vampires!)
  • V
  • The Good Wife
  • Accidentally On Purpose

I watched Accidently on Purpose last night and I thought the acting was bad and it sounded like Elfman had a lisp or something going on with her S sounds. I don’t see it lasting.

My tingly shows are NCIS and Criminal Minds plus Dexter which I’ll have to DL as it comes out. Here’s to a happy TV season! :robin:

@B, good to know I shouldn’t bother with that show. Wait wait wait!!! You like NCIS and Criminal Minds??? I had NO idea! 😉

I haven’t watched a live TV show in years, thanks to NetFlix and their live streaming. I can now watch TV-MA rated anime (with boobs!) anytime I want.

Dear R, do you put these smileys on top of the comment box just to mock me?! Sincerely, The Girl with Cool Smiley Envy

p.s. You LOVE The Big Bang Theory? Ok. Since I kind of trust your taste, I will need to give it another chance. I only watch it on United flights. Maybe they show only the crappy ones as they do with almost everything else…

@submom, actually you reminded me to put mine in this template, i always forget them.

I do think I have good taste, as far as movies and tv at least. I can’t say however if YOU have good taste, we’ll have to see :dutchy:

My current favs are “Dexter” and “Hung”.
I agree completely with you on the whole “Vampire Diaries” show. It looks exactly like “Twilight” and I am fed up with cheesy teenage vampire dramas!

I gave “Community” a try and like it, but as I mentioned before, maybe it’s because I used to teach at several. “Bones” started last week, but I wasn’t as impressed as I thought I’d be even though Cyndi Lauper was a guest star.

Brian and I are big “NCIS” fans and will give “NCIS: LA” a try since it comes on right after and because “Ladies Love Cool James,” :robin: and I’m going to check out “The Good Wife” because that’s on next and I like Julianna Margulies OK. But that might only be because I’m catching up on “ER” right now. I’m also going to check out “Brothers,” mainly because I want to see if Michael Strahan (ex-NFLer) can act and because CCH Pounder plays his mom. She’s another “ER” person.

I’m ditching “Criminal Minds” and “CSI,” but now I can’t remember what for. Maybe “Cougar Town”? :lmao:

@Barb, it’s funny there seems to be so many shows but i feel like several of my nights are empty :grumpy:

Katie and I were so excited by the return of Big Bang Theory last night it was ridiculous. “Daddy’s home.”

    Big Bang Theory is shit.

The Cougar Town promo actually looked funny, so I think I’ll give it a shot.
