I wasn’t sure what post I wanted to write for John Hughes but I knew I wanted to do something, I love so many of his movies. I found this article about which Hughe’s character would make the best boyfriend. So here is my thoughts on it as if I’d actually dated them (only using the movies I’ve actually seen, never seen Beethoven and besides he’s a dog).

Blaine McDonnagh: Pretty In Pink
I had the biggest crush on him, he was one of the popular guys in school. We quite nearly went to the prom but he dumped me because I was too lower class. When I showed up at the prom he wanted another chance and I told him to go fuck Steff. I saw him again years ago at a reunion, he’s an alcoholic and works in insurance.

Ferris Bueller: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
He was the king of high school and he always knew exactly what to say or do. Although because of him I missed so much school that I was sent away to bording school and then I became a lesbian. He’s now a politician.

Farmer Ted: Sixteen Candles
He was kinda cute in that awkward/horny kind of way or maybe I just felt bad for him. I made out with him once but his braces cut my lip and he came in his pants.

Keith Nelson: Some Kind Of Wonderful
He was a close friend of mine in high school and I had a thing for him, bad. He had a thing for the popular twat in school. When he finally chose me I even got a sweet pair of diamond earrings out of the deal. We broke up when we went to college, he required too much attention.

John Bender:The Breakfast Club
I was going to date him, I mean he was the bad boy who smoked and had an earring. He also wore those awesome fingerless gloves. Problem is he kind of had a hygene problem, I had to end things there. I see him now when he fixes my car, he totally still calls me cherry.

Duckie Dale: Pretty In Pink
He was my best friend and kind of weird. Let’s just say he was way beyond his years in high school. He professed his love for me and I decided I’d rather have the funny/goofy/best friend than any other guy. We dated all summer, that young love kind of thing but broke up when I went off to college and he started working at the record store. I ran into him 10 years later at a coffee shop and he was one of those guys that just got more attractive with age. He owned his own company. We’re married now, live in Seattle and he still sings Try A Little Tenderness for me
