This movie was recommended to me by Eddie and Crystal because it’s about a local hospital and because it’s a horror movie about an abandoned asylum and I’m slightly obsessed with them.
The Basics: A group of guys bid to do work on the Danvers State Hospital that had been abandoned since 1984.
The Good: The scariest part of this movie is not the plot or the characters but the actual building the movie is about and takes place in. If this movie had just been a tour of the building at night that would have scared the bejesus out of me on it’s own. The plot has it’s moments that are pretty creepy, mostly when a guy decides to listen to a patient’s session and this patient suffers from multiple personality disorder.
The Bad: Most of this movie was pretty bad. The acting wasn’t bad, especially considering it had David Caruso in it, but the plot was confusing. At the end I wasn’t even quite sure what had happened so I watched the alternate ending and I thought it made more sense until I read more details on imdb.com. I think maybe they tried to be too artsy with the movie, which only really made it confusing.
