Say No To Traveling Abroad

I love horror movies and I’m terrified of them at the same time. I scream, I put the blanket over my head and I am often traumatized for life. The first time I was traumatized was Night of the Creeps when I was like 10 and I actually watched some of it again the other day and it is like a horror movie done with puppets.

Then they start making these horror movies where an American goes to a foreign country and is brutally murdered. So now I’m all paranoid and really don’t want to be tied down and have my limbs cut off. I know, I’m so difficult.

First I saw Hostel, yeah Amsterdam is totally out of the question. I am pretty sure I’d be an easy target to drug and tie up in a dungeon. My guess is that they prefer to have victims that cry and scream a lot and bleed a lot, that’s me.

Then there was Dog Soldiers, those damn werewolves in Scotland ruin it for everyone else.

Turistas was what I think sent me over the edge. A bunch of stupid Americans get drugged in Brazil and are held captive in the middle of the forest to be tortured. See in my mind, mostly likely

Recently I just saw The Ruins which takes place in Mexico and if there is anything you can learn from all these movies it’s “do not trust the locals.” No matter how nice they seem or how helpful they appear just go back to your comfy hotel and never go off the beaten path. Also, if the natives seem weary of a location you are going to, just take their word for it and turn around.

I think I’ll just stay in American where all the lies and torture are right out in the open.

I have not seen any of those movies. I stay away from horror. Reality is scary enough!!!!

I LOVE horror movies! (I didn’t much care for Hostel though. Torture porn is just not my thing)

Have you seen “An American Werewolf in London”? THAT is a great holiday horror flick?

The ending for the movie version of The Ruins was so much better than the one in the book. All in all, I thought that the movie was slightly better than the book, and the book was terrible.

Not all torture in America is right out in the open. Some of it takes place down in my basement. :mrfab:
