No Hitting

You know what pisses me off? I know, you are dying to learn another annoyance of mine to my very long list already, well here it is. I hate when people talk about how men shouldn’t hit women but I think it’s just as wrong for a woman to hit a man. Granted, the man is often bigger and stronger but hitting is hitting, it’s never ok. Spanking is ok but only if you enjoy it 😉

I got to thinking about this when a man called into the radio show the other day about how he fell asleep after getting it on with his girlfriend. This upset her so she decided to give a good flick to his balls. I don’t know what it’s like to have balls but I can imagine this hurts pretty bad.

So he woke right up out of a dead sleep in shock and punched her in the face. Not surprisingly she was pissed and stormed out. Later her brother called him up calling him an abuser.

Another woman called in soon after that to vehimently point out that no matter what it’s not ok to hit a woman. This is true, but it was just as wrong of her to flick him in the nuts. At least she was fully aware of what she was doing, he was unconscious. Was he wrong to hit her? Yeah but it’s quite different than being the kind of man who would beat a woman.

Women abuse men too, physically and verbally. It’s never ok. What are your thoughts?

I think it’s wrong no matter who hits who…

However, a flick in the nuts is more innocent than a punch in the face. He wasn’t totally conscious of what he was doing, so in this case, I don’t think he’s an abuser.

I think the rule should be no hitting ever, no matter what your gender.

I agree with Tug, I probably would have flicked him in the ear. And I do agree women often abuse men physically and verbally quite often. It drives me crazy when my female friends tell me stories about how they yelled at their S.O. for small insignificant things. But I suppose part of it is what kind of relationships you saw growing up, that’s how what you use as a model for your own relationships.

It’s never OK to hit someone but to be honest, if I was sleeping and someone hit me or whatever, out of reaction I’d probably hit them without even thinking about it.

She was more wrong than him. Seriously. She was out to cause pain, he was essentially defending himself.

I think that if a woman is attacking a man, the man has the right to defend himself. It’s not okay to hit anyone. No matter what the gender is. I think more women physically abuse men than we hear about because men are less likely to report it. And a woman abusing a man is just as wrong.

I completely agree and would also add that it’s not acceptable, to me, for anyone to hit anyone (unless it’s a consensually agreed upon thing) – including children.

I agree and don’t think either gender should verbally/physically abuse the other. However, I will say that there is a bit of justified double standard, because men are physically stronger than women and can cause more injury. So, it is a bit worse for a man to hit a woman than vice versa.
