Zack and Miri Make an Ok Movie
I was excited to see Zack and Miri Make A Porno. Why? For several reasons.
- It’s Seth Rogen, he’s totally geek hot.
- It’s Kevin Smith, that’s just a good time no matter what.
- It has porno in the title which means it’s about sex and has dirty words in it, sex is funny.
- I like Elizabeth Banks, who doesn’t? She’s like the girl next door who you want to bang too.
The Basics: Anyway, the film is about 2 platonic friends Zack and Miri who are broke and so they can turn their electricity and water back on they decide to make a porno. Problem is that they have never had sex before and are afraid it will ruin their relationship.
The Good: The conversations in Kevin Smith movies are always the best part and the seriously foul language is really fucking funny. I also admit the chemistry was nice between Seth and Elizabeth, especially one scene in particular. Hmmmm….
The Bad: I’m sorry but it was a little too cheesy and immature for me at times, maybe I’m just getting too old…which fucking sucks seriously. Maybe the film just tried too hard to push the envelope. Also I hate hate HATE bathroom humor and that just really pisses me off to see anything that you would see in a bathroom. Except peeing, peeing doesn’t bother me. Washing hands is fine too. Anyway, the film went back and forth for me, one scene I’d love (mostly the scenes with just Seth and Elizabeth) and another scene with like Jay from Jay and Silent Bob just totally turned me off (I don’t need to see him humping).
The Final Word: Anyway, I do suggest you see it…the moments were worth it for an enjoyable evening.

Especially that one scene with Seth and Elizabeth… Oh dear lord that was… something. Phew, I’m getting all worked up just thinking about it. It just completely escalated whatever geek charm he had over me.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who was a little tired of the bathroom humor… which is quite literal in that one scene. Blegh. And seeing Jay’s junk, just kind of random.
But I still found myself dying with laughter at a lot of it. Loved it!
If Netflix ever takes this off the “Very Long Wait” list, I’ll get it. If Damages, season 1, is any indication, this could be months.
I was so, so excited about this movie. I mean, it had my two favorite groups of movie-people (Kevin Smith people and Judd Apatow people) so I think I was going to be disappointed no matter what. I did like it a lot, though. Just not as much as I had hoped.
I’ve been wanting to see this movie… With these types of movies I guess you just have to expect certain bad things.. I could also do with out Jay, as I was never a big fan of Jay and Silent Bob

I’ve been looking forward to seeing this movie. Seth is just so doggone cute! In a nerdy-guy kind of way, of course. :blush:
I loved the scene between the two of them. After that, though, the movie fell apart. The ending was absolutely stupid. I still enjoyed most of the film, though.

I saw this movie in the theatre and liked it! It was kinda immature in parts though, I agree.
I went and saw it in the theater… I really liked it the first time, it was fucking hilarious (and just immature, which I needed that day)
The second time it wasn’t as funny. Just sayin’

Saddest part of seeing that movie? I actually knew Katie Morgan by sight….no wonder why Z (we were dating at the time this movie was in the theaters)thought I was obsessed with porn. Oh, wait…. ::wink::
Yeah, I was not expecting that to be hot and I too did not need to see Jay’s junk.

I think Jay was good back in the day, now it was somehow just creepy.

Sometimes immaturity works in a movie, sometimes…not quite.
I think most movies seem better in the theater.
