Worse For Me

:cold: Last Saturday I went on another photography adventure but this time with Gemini “Robin and Gemini’s Excellent Adventure Part One“. It couldn’t have been more successful, except well if it had been just a tad warmer. A couple times my hands got so numb I couldn’t press the button on my camera.

👿 My brother’s first real girlfriend is coming over to the house after thanksgiving for dessert and I figure I’ll be nice, I won’t show her all the embarassing pictures of when he was a kid…just some.

:whip: Read this book because:

“‘I feel too much. That’s what’s going on.’ ‘Do you think one can feel too much? Or just feel in the wrong ways?’ ‘My insides don’t match up with my outsides.’ ‘Do anyone’s insides and outsides match up?’ ‘I don’t know. I’m only me.’ ‘Maybe that’s what a person’s personality is: the difference between the inside and outside.’ ‘But it’s worse for me.’ ‘I wonder if everyone thinks it’s worse for him.’ ‘Probably. But it really is worse for me.'”

 Today I am not going out shopping, in fact I’m avoiding all stores until after January (no Black Friday for me) which is why I do all of mine online and often at Amazon.com. The only thing I personally am shopping for this year (same as last year) is for the gift giving family thing for Crapmass but I’m going to keep it simple.

 If you are looking for an inexpensive but thoughtful gift I really do personally recommend Wild Words from Wild Women Day-to-Day Calendar. I’ve used mine for 3 years now and will probably do it this year if I buy myself anything at all. It has the best quotes, many that I’ve used on this site.

This Christmas stuff is starting to get to me. I’m all about the mirth and cheer. But it seems our sick society is all about money, bigger, better, who gave the best gift, etc.

What about simple things? Small things? The company of the people you love? Shouldn’t that be enough?

    *sigh*

I, too, will avoid the stores until after the new year. People are nuts — in the stores, in the parking lots. Oh, good God, the parking lots! AGH!

@Tara – you know what i think would be fun? having a gift exchange where everyone has to make their gift. i’d enjoy that much more.

I refuse to shop today too. I’m not a big shopper. In fact, I hate to shop.

Well, I had to work all day (we opened 2 hours early) so I didn’t go shopping. I wouldn’t have anyway, I’d rather just pay more money.

I love that book, by the way

I think Will Wheaton said it best, when he said, today on twitter:

Anyone else having trouble reconciling yesterday’s “be thankful for what you have” and today’s “GET OUT THERE AND BUY MORE STUFF!” messages?

Yes, I follow will Wheaton. What about it?
