Duck Love

I came across these ducks in a town (don’t remember which one right now) and when I first saw them one was sleeping and the other was cleaning itself. Afterwards they swam off together, like an old married couple.

I assumed the sleeping one was the guy and the one staying clean was the woman but when I showed Manly Man he said it was the opposite actually. Maybe it’s different in their world.

He was wrong.  The camouflage one who was cleaning was the woman and the black, white and blue one who was napping was the husband.  That makes sense.

You can see more of them here.

    In nature, for the most part, the male is the one with the pretty colors & fancy plumage. Females are dull, camouflaged, boring in appearance. This is because the males need to be attractive & entice in order to get a female to allow him to mate with her.

    It’s really only humans who do it the other way around, appearance-wise, anyway. 🙂

    @bluepaintred – :rolleyes:
    @Maureen Navadomskis – Yeah that’s what he said, it was the camouflage one that was cleaning and the black, white and green one that was sleeping.
