My little Sister….

Ok so I talked to Robin after the wedding and told her that if she wanted I would post my speech on her blog. So I am here about to post it but I have problems with the schedule post thingy (my in memory post for PM didn’t get posted until Monday) and the speech was saved on my work computer so it hasn’t been posted as early as everyone else’s guest posts. But here you go…

I wrote it like I would say it…. So it isn’t like a normal post. Also I said my speech after my husband the best man said his… just incase you were wondering why I said “again” a few times.

First off I also would like to thank everyone for coming out today from all over the country. I know that it means a lot to both Robin and Erik.

I know that most of you know me but for those of you who don’t my name is Christi and I am the Best friend and Sister in Law to the couple that sits before you.

When Robin Asked me to say something today I was extremely honored and at a total loss for words. (I know! it was a first for me too!)

But seriously what could I say to you all to make you understand how much both Robin and Erik mean to me…

So I thought that I could start by telling you a story. This is a story about a girl. In January of 2001 this girl came into interview for a job at a company that I was working for. She walked into the lobby and quietly sat down. Seeing her slight discomfort and her nervousness I started to talk to her asking her questions like “where do you live? Where are you from?” And so on. Slowly she came out of her shell. We talked for about 10 min until she was called in for her interview.

After her interview was over she walked out with a wave to me. My boss at the time asked me what I thought of her… I said “She would be perfect for the job…” But in my head I thought “I hope she gets the job because I think that she will make the Perfect FRIEND…”

She did get the job and although we both eventually got laid off from that job we stayed friends. Through-out the last 8 years she has gone from a “Work” friend,  to a “Good” friend, to my “Best” friend … and now I call her my Sister….

I could tell you lots of really funny stories about all of our adventures as friends. Like the road trip to OK and the 2 Decker Cow Truck… (How you Moo’in?)  Or about the time she called me on the phone on her way to work crying hysterically because of the Pina colada (Escape) song on a love CD she made…

I could also tell you about how she has comforted me at times when I have felt lost, how she has been there for me at times when I have needed someone to talk to… Or how much her friend ship has meant to me over the last 8 years….

Robin we have shared so much of our lives with each other and I am so honored to be sharing this day with you. Starting today you will begin to share your life with Erik but remember that I will always be here for you and I will always be ready to stand up by your side as your Best friend and now as your Official Big sister…

Everyone please raise your glasses again to Robin and Erik…

A wedding day will be remembered

For all the joy it brings

A day of love and happiness

Of vows and wedding rings

A day of new beginnings

Learning what love truly means

Your wedding day is just the start

Of many hopes and dreams!

To Robin and Erik Cheers!

I’m so glad I asked you to do the toast, it wouldn’t have been right any other way. It was a perfect (or almost) day and a very very fast one as well.
