Name Change

Have you ever known anyone (other than transvestites) to change their name? My brother Matt has decided he wants to go by his middle name Adam. I don’t know how to get used to this, he’s always been Matt.

Erik’s name is actually his middle name and my mom goes by her middle name too, but they both started going by these names pretty much when they were born.

    My cousin did this… he decided after 25 years to go by his first name instead of his initials… I still call him A.T.

    I use my middle name. Have since I was in grade 9.

    I despise my first name and will legally change it one day. Especially now that at the local stores they actually check your driver’s license when you use your credit card. I don’t need some freak at Walmart knowing my first name.

    Nope. I only know of people that go by their middle name–but have always done so…

    I’ve known people that have wanted to go by their given name instead of a childhood nick name, or from inititals to first name… but not first to middle. especially as an adult.

    I’ve known some teens who decided to change their name. Most of the time people just went along with it, until the next teen whim came along.

    My roommate in college went by her middle name. 20+ years later, long after we’d lost touch with each other, I decided to track her down by sending a letter to her parent’s old address. She got it & we’ve been emailing back & forth since. Somewhere along the way, though, she started going by her first name, again. So, it sounds like the same kind of thing that your brother is doing, but in reverse.
