No More Whiskey

So, it’s a given that you know you are in trouble if all you can think about the day before you go to a party that all you want to do is drink. You are already setting yourself up for big trouble, which is what I did.

I don’t drink much anymore ever since I realized getting drunk never really was all that fun to begin with. Getting buzzed is fun but it quickly turns into very very bad.

Buzzed = Fun Drunk = No Fun

So I find myself sitting at a table at a wedding with people I don’t know and have nothing to speak to them about. I find myself quickly bored and started with a light beer. So what if it was just after 2 p.m. I was bored, ok??

The beer was ok but I was still pretty bored so I ordered a Madras (after texting a friend to find out the name) and that was good but dammit, must they use so much ice?? After that I decided it was time for a cosmopolitan, I’m guessing that was about 4 p.m.

At some point in there we ate and I even had some coffee, why was the coffee brought out before dinner? Anyway, then they started to do all the games and they all forced me to be involved in the flower toss. Dammit, I’m not single anymore and haven’t been for 5 years. Fine, whatever.

After that I went to see BIL and this may have been where I took the dangerous turn. He

was at the bar and I think it’s safe to say he was already pretty buzzed. He and his friends decided to do a shot of whiskey so I joined in. I have no explanation for this other than the fact it was free, I hate whiskey :yuck:

Then I think it was another :martini: but I’m really not sure how many more of those I had after that. I thought the whiskey shot hadn’t really done the job so I ordered a round of Kamakaze shots, man those things are good

The rest of the night is a blur and I can’t tell you what else I drank, I lost track. I do know that SIL had to bring me back to her place around 10 p.m. and I don’t remember being in the car. I also don’t remember telling BIL about my new sex toy :paperbag:

At 2 p.m. I woke up in SIL’s guest room cold and stuffed up from allergies. I found Erik in the entertainment room and told him I wanted to go home to our bed. Since both of our cars were still at the reception we took a cab, which was an experience in itself.

I still didn’t sleep all night, I don’t know why.

That’s why I won’t ever do whiskey again and I won’t ever get drunk again…or at least not for a long time. Sometimes you need a harsh reminder of why getting drunk is not fun.

Whiskey? Ugh! I hate whiskey too. I don’t even think I would drink free whiskey!

    Jack Daniels is the GREATEST!!!!!

On another note though… Weddings are just a dangerous event…. My girlfriend and I aren’t big drinkers, but everyone else looks at us like we are because they can get buzzed after 2 drinks….
(So what if we put back a couple of sixes like it’s water on a Tuesday night…)
The last wedding I was at, I was in. It was a morning wedding, but they still served beer at the reception. I treat Weddings like vacation and I don’t mind having beer for breakfast on vacation.

Anyways, I rarely get trashed (hard to get to that point these days), but I am a happy drinker…. and happy drunks love to dance like idiots at weddings and embarrass their girlfriends and themselves…

It sounds like the environment wasn’t fun, but it wasn’t the fault of the alcohol.

Too much booze will do that to a person.

Especially since you had all kinds of drinks. That always messes me up. And I pay for it dearly.

    Hope you feel better now!!!
