You Are Ranked!

I’ve incorporated a new plugin that while it’s quite fun and exciting it’s also so far been a bitch to put together. As you may have noticed there is a rank list over on the sidebar and it shows the top ten people who’ve commented on this blog from the beginning.

Now the problem I encountered immediately (after I actually installed it right) was that people have changed their friggen username like 200x so the count isn’t accurate. Some of you might not care much but it bugs me :pissed:

So I installed another plugin so I could go in and change all the screenames so they matched up, I’ve still got to figure out which Heather goes with which one  I’ve made a lot of progress though, I’d still like to find a way to have a full list of at least the top 200 or something.

The ranking is as follows:
1-49 = Virgin (cherries)
50-99 = Prude (lolli pop)
100-249 = Floozy (dirty teddy bear)
250-499 = Trollop (dirty bird)
500-749 = Slut (nail)
750-1000 = Whore (screw)

This all may change as I think of better things or if you guys have any better suggestions. So far I think the icons are kind of lame, it was hard to find anything very good. I may add more ranks, we’ll see what happens.

I also want to add the rankings to your names in the comments. If any of this bothers you in any way I can exclude you from it, so don’t hesitate to ask.

Anyway, that’s my new little project. How cool am I? 😎

Edited: Here is the page with everyone who has at least 25 comments or more: The Ranks

That’s a cool idea. You might have to continue past Whore, though.

Yeah, eventually. I have a feeling the whole thing is in it’s beginning stages and will change a lot.

Tweaking those comment names should be pretty simple. Did you use phpMyAdmin to change that one? You can use it again to change others in a whole bunch of ways. Like:

    UPDATE wp_comments SET comment_author = ‘Heather B’ WHERE comment_author_email = ‘heatherb@email.com’

PS – Be careful about copy and paste. WP converts quotation marks into special characters that will make your database explode if you paste them into an SQL box.

Joefish – I actually already figured that out…see I’m not a total :dunce:

I meant that because it says I am a PRUDE. We all know that is not true.

OH and when I read that I thought you meant me. Being as my name is Heather… But then I realized you meant the other 2. (which to be even funnier, my middle name is ann…. )

So, what, I need to post like 20 more times to stop being such a prude? You already have 87 of my most thoughtful thoughts. I don’t know if I can handle too many more, my head might explode.

I like the addition in the sidebar, but I find it a little disruptive when I read the comments. It may not be necessary to list the individual stats in every single comment, but that’s just my little opinion.

In looking at the icons in the sidebar, they seem to be messing up the display. Maybe no icons at all will be better? When I first saw the listing earlier today, I was confused as to why there was a thumbtack next to some of the names. Now I know they’re screws.

    You guys are funny.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will adjust some things, I’m pretty sure I can take the icons out of the sidebar. You are always there to fix me up

One thing to consider, the more stuff you have loading, the slower the blog will be to fully load up. I’ve been finding the site a little slow-loading lately.

Frankie: The plugin works well in WP 2.2.
