Wow. You got two cards! How did you manage that? Are you showing him your boobs? I’ll send you two cards if you show me your boobs.

  • http://iendedupherehow.com/blog/ stephanie

    I also Need.That.Postcard.

That quote is on my jdate profile. I’m such a loser.

  • http://www.roadlessunraveled.com Robin

Tara - If I ever find one it’s going to you!

    Heather Anne
    – I have yet to show them even…maybe it’s his way of saying I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.

Stephanie - It’s the BEST quote from the BEST romantic movie!

  • http://iendedupherehow.com/blog/ stephanie

It is the Best.Movie.EVER! I :heartbeat: that movie forever, and ever. (Which is why that quote was used in my profile, because whomever connects with it, is at least gonna understand me a little bit.)

  • http://pointless-drivel.com Mr. Fabulous

All I will say is that I asked Mrs. Fab and she also says that Love, Actually is the more romantic movie. You gonna cross her? I’ve been there. It doesn’t end well!

  • http://www.gemini.roadlessunraveled.com/ Gemini

I have seen both movies and Love Actually has a few romantic moments… the jumping in the lake and the signs part but I was not blown away by it like I hoped to be…. I love Colin Firth and it was not at the top of my fav movies by him….

Say anything however gets me in the heart every time I see it because I always wanted a guy to sit out side of my window with a boom box above his head, Rain gushing down blasting “In your Eyes”

Sorry Mr Fab Girl hood dreams die hard…

    :nana:

  • http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?pointless-drivel.com Mr. Fabulous

Oh come on! That’s ONE scene. That’s the ONLY scene that movie has!

In Love, Actually, just the scene with the little boy running through the airport to talk to the girl he likes beats that!

  • http://iendedupherehow.com/blog/ stephanie

Mr. Fab – That’s NOT the only scene.

Lloyd on the phone, in the pouring rain… “I gave her my heart, she gave me a pen.”

Lloyd in front of the gas and sip talking to the guys… “If you know so much about women, why are you sitting in front of the gas and sip on a saturday night, with no women anywhere?”

Lloyd talking to Diane’s dad – “I don’t know, I just want to hang with your daughter.”

    And sooooo many more!!!!

  • http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?pointless-drivel.com Mr. Fabulous

Stephanie–Yes, but those are more pedestrian scenes…they could be in ANY romantic movie. All of the movie is predicated on the boom box scene. And if the question were “What is the most romantic MOMENT in a movie” I would agree.

But everything in Love, Actually, added together beats Say Anthing all added together. Say Anything has the one better moment, but overall Love Actually is overall the more romantic picture.

Look into your heart. You will see the truth :D

    Radio time…gotta go!

  • http://www.roadlessunraveled.com Robin

I think I like Say Anything so much because it feels more real to me than most romantic movies. I also ADORE Lloyd, he was the kind of guy I wanted to find…and did. He’s this goofy guy nobody understands until this one woman finally GETS him. I love how sappy he is and how romantic he is. I love how passionate he is and how real he is. You can’t help but KNOW you can find a guy like Lloyd and that’s so real.

I think one of my favorite moments is when he’s at the party with her and she points out to someone how he’s always checking up on her to make sure she’s ok

Oh and you CAN’T forget the scene in the car :heartbeat: She askes him why he’s shaking and he says he’s not. She askes why he’s shaking and if he’s cold…he says he’s not cold…just happy.

I’m gonna go swoon right now.

Why is Erik asking me about salsa right now? Ruining the moment :annoyed:

  • http://iendedupherehow.com/blog/ stephanie

Robin – That’s EXACTLY it. Thanks for explaining it ever so much better than i did.

I’d like to believe there’s a Lloyd out there for all of us. Yay for you for finding yours!

  • http://www.roadlessunraveled.com Robin

I do what I can. He’s my Lloyd, Ross, Noel and Jim all in one.

  • http://www.gemini.roadlessunraveled.com/ Gemini

Nope It wasn’t just that one scene there were many moments…. It Felt real to me and most of the women that I know….

I just do not find any of the situations In the movie “Love Actually” felt that real to me. It is truly my opinion but as a girl that was a teenager in the late 80′s and every moment in the movie “Say Anything” makes me sigh and swoon…

Lloyd Dobler: She’s gone. She gave me a pen. I gave her my heart, she gave me a pen.
    ————————————————–
    Diane Court: Are you shaking?
    Lloyd Dobler: No.
    Diane Court: You’re shaking.
Lloyd Dobler: I don’t think so.
    Diane Court: You’re cold.
    Lloyd Dobler: I don’t think I am.
Diane Court: Then why are you shaking?
    Lloyd Dobler: I don’t know. I think I’m happy.
    ————————————————————————

Lloyd Dobler: What I really want to do with my life – what I want to do for a living – is I want to be with your daughter. I’m good at it.
    —————————————————————————

Lloyd Dobler: Just knowing that a version like that exists, knowing that just for a minute she felt that and wrote “I can’t help loving you”. That has to be worth something.
    ————————————————————————–
[Lloyd's letter to Diane] Dear Diane, I’ll always be there for you. All the love in my heart, Lloyd.
    —————————————————-
    Diane Court: I love you.
    Lloyd Dobler: What?
Diane Court: I love you. How many more times do I have to say it?
Lloyd Dobler: One more would be nice.
Diane Court: I love you… please. I love you.
    ——————————————————–

There are moments and looks and the fact that he has loved her before he even asked her out… always made me feel like there was hope for a girl like me to get the guy that was ready to treat me the way that Lloyd did to Diane.

Just like Robin I found my Lloyd and I have never been happier!

Love Actually is a good movie but not in the same league for me as Say Anything.

I just want it be known that Mr. Fab is my hero.

As for Love Actually not being “realistic”… well let’s look at all the different stories…

There’s Love @ Work between Sara and Karl who are co-workers
There’s Love American Style with Colin who can’t find a girl
There’s Love Inappropriately between David (the Prime Minister) and Natalie
There’s Elementary Love with Sam… and eventually his stepfather Daniel as well
There’s Love Being A Second Language between Jamie and Aurelia which is more of a metaphor for two people who do not know the “right” way to express their love
There’s the Awkward Love between the two body doubles… haven’t you ever met someone in an awkward position and ever fallen for them?
There’s Rock Love with Billy and his manager… a bond that isn’t sexual… but love all the same.
Then… the most powerful one… is Love Unspoken… between Mark and Juliet… so if you can honestly say you have never suffered from Love Unspoken… then your a lucky person… and probably a space alien.

Love Actually is by far the most romantic movie for generations.

Say Anything is an ’80′s movie… and that’s all it is.

  • http://www.gemini.roadlessunraveled.com/ Gemini

    Sorry To me….

Say Anything Is more real to me then the other movie… I think of growing up and how painful and weird the first time you fall in love felt.

the situations above are nice but do not turn my heart to mush or make me feel all romantic…

It just seems like there is too much going on and too many things to focus on. For me the only two moments that were “romantic” was the showing of the signs and then the jumping in the lake scene… but for me those were the only two moments that were even slightly romantic.

this is my opinion…. sorry…

Both are exceptionally romantic movies, though I do like Love Actually a lot more. Very nicely described, Watchdog. Love Actually explores more facets of love (though I wish there would have been some gay love in there somewhere). Say Anything, while also very romantic, explores only one relationship. Because of this, it’s able to go into a deeper level.

In the end I don’t think you can really compare the two. They’re not the same breed of romantic movie. They’re not even similar in any way.

  • http://pointless-drivel.com Mr. Fabulous

I am trying to write my essay now, and I can’t help but feel as if I should have had Watchdog write it…

  • http://www.roadlessunraveled.com Robin

    GDG - I agree.

Fab - Haha, well Tara or Stephanie might have done a better job than me.
