Down By The Rivah

How Boston are you? What do these terms mean and do NOT look them up…just guess. Seriously, this is no fun if you cheat…I didn’t know some of these. As you may have noticed I don’t have a Boston accent…I swayah.

  1. Bang = example “bang a right at the CVS”
  2. Hoodsie = an ice cream cup
  3. Dunkie’s = Dunkin Donuts
  4. Wicked = very
  5. Jimmies = sprinkles that go on ice cream
  6. Mehfuh = the town of Medford
  7. No Suh! = “I don’t think so!”
  8. Ova the Bridge = the bridge from Cape Ann to the rest of the world (people in Cape Ann don’t tend to ever leave)
  9. Woof = cocaine in Charlestown
  10. Fudgicle = how Bostonians say fudgesicle (without the s)

Jimmies are actually only the chocolate sprinkles. The multi-colored ones are called sprinkles.

I didn’t know any of those, but I have a good excuse: I’ve only spent four days in Boston in my whole life. I would love to go back someday, though.
