An Inconvenient Truth
I don’t know the last time I heard such a great title for a movie because this says it all. The concept of global warming is something even I would rather not think about because it’s simply daunting. It’s about time An Inconvenient Truth came out and I really think everyone needs to see this.
The truth is that it’s important to realize what is happening to the world we live in and the fact it’s quickly getting worse. The scary part about it is it’s hard to imagine that there is anything substantial we can do to make this better. Recycling? Better cars? Better choices?
From what I learned from the movie just making small changes can make a pretty big difference and everyone really just needs to take this more seriously. The hardest part is that the government and companies want to sweep it under the carpet because it’s easier that way.
Here are some facts from the site:
- The number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes has almost doubled in the last 30 years.
- Deaths from global warming will double in just 25 years — to 300,000 people a year.
- Global sea levels could rise by more than 20 feet with the loss of shelf ice in Greenland and Antarctica, devastating coastal areas worldwide.
- More than a million species worldwide could be driven to extinction by 2050.
It’s too bad that this isn’t being taken more seriously, quite honestly it’s one of the reasons I don’t want to have children. Why bring children into a world that is quickly deteriorating?
