Psycho Bitch

On occasion I get the nasty calls here at work where someone is dissatisfied with service or something like that. Usually if I just listen and try to help them out they calm down. The lady this afternoon was not about to calm down no matter what I said.

See, I work in the health care industry and when it comes to people’s health care they can get pretty worked up…understandably. It’s the rude people that are taking their issues out on me I can’t deal with.

Here is the gist of the conversation (think of a snarky tone with a lot of sighs):

Robin: This is Robin, can I help you?
Caller: Probably not.
Robin: Well…what can I do for you?
Caller: I want to make a grievance against the customer service.
Robin: Ok, well you just need to write a letter and send it to—
Caller: (cutting me off) No it’s not ok!!! I don’t want to send a letter!
Robin: Ok…
Caller: No! It’s not ok!
Robin: Well, what do you need me to do?
Caller: What do you think you should do?
Robin: Ok.
Caller: No it’s not OK!!
Robin: What is your last name?
Caller: It’s *************
Robin: Can you spell it?
Caller: Of course I can spell it! i’m not from Arkansas!!
Robin: Well…
Caller: I want to speak with a manager!!
Robin: Ok.
Caller: NO IT’S NOT OK!!!

That’s when I promptly ran to find a supervisor and she agreed to take the call for me…because she’s awesome like that. I later found out from the supervisor that the call didn’t even belong in our department :rolleyes:

I now have a fear of the work “ok”.

    Jeez. Caller from hell. “Sure!” and “Absolutely!” work really well.

    (There’s another phobia name for you to make up, Okayornotiphobia? hehe)

    I do not miss those type of customers at all. I’ve dealt with those kinds all the time when I would work at the courtesy desk at walmart.

    I read one time that the English word OK has been borrowed by more languages than any other word. It is a great word. So don’t be afraid to use it. OK?

    Oh my god, I am having flashbacks of when I used to work as a legal secretary in a personal injury firm. These clients would be, like, sitting at home bored, not working, and they’d call for no reason. I finally had to start saying, “Ma’am, what can *I* do to help *you*?” And it stumped them. Because they had no reason for their call except general whining about life! They’d get all sulky and be like, “well… nothing… I guess… talk to you later.”

    some People just need a good :whosnext:

    I hate that People can not disconnect their problem from the customer service person that they are talking to from the last not every person you talk to on the phone is going to do something that will make you angry and instead of taking it out on that next person they really need to know that there is a way to complain with out being rude :annoyed:
