The Lake House

Sometimes we need a nice romance and this Saturday was a cozy romance night. I love Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves is very nice to watch so that meant I was going with The Lake House.

If you enjoy romantic movies you also understand they aren’t usually very realistic and often are fantasies.  Knowing that and accepting that it’s ok for these movies to be hard to believe if the chemistry is right and the story is good they can suck you right in.

That’s what happened with The Lake House and it was a pleasure for a lonely night.  I went into it skeptical because it is about a man and a woman falling in love at a lake house two years apart.  They write each other letters while one lives in 2004 and the other in 2006.  As the movie goes on they try to find ways to connect and given that they don’t know each other it’s increasingly difficult.

Sandra and Keanu have beautiful chemistry and you find yourself routing for the couple to find their way to each other.  This movie reminds me a lot of Sleepless in Seattle and the way it gets you to want a couple together that have never met.

All I can say, since I refuse to ruin it for you, is if you like a good dreamy romantic movie then you should check this out.  I’m a skeptic and I still cried.
