Lucked Out

So I sent this email to most of the family informing them that Erik and I would not be doing xmas anymore. I let them know it just wasn’t something we wanted to be involved in because it didn’t mean anything to us. I did also say we would still like to come to the family party if there was one.

To my surprise there will be no gift giving this year but it makes sense. People are buying houses and lives are going in different directions. Not only am I glad at least this year we don’t have to be the jerks but also that it will be an all over less stressful time of year.  At least I know the family won’t be bitching about holiday shopping :thumbsup:
So now I can just sit back and not have to worry about any of it. Who knows, maybe I’ll even enjoy the holiday for once.

    I hope that this does give you an opportunity to really enjoy the holiday season. It’s such a beautiful time of year. The beauty is not just in the weather & decorations, but in the way that people open their hearts up just a tiny bit more to each other.

    Maybe it’s a Mass thing but it’s always seemed to me people are more aggravated and rude during that time of year. The driving is much angrier and shopping is out of the question. It’s sad that it appears the holiday has turned into exactly what it’s not supposed to be.

    I really don’t blame you. I’m getting to where I despise the holidays. I get sick trying to think about how I can afford to buy everyone a gift and provide food/shelter for everyone that comes to our house. I’d rather just get together for a family dinner or something. I could do without all the stress that goes along with it. To be honest, I can’t stand to be around crowds of people…. I get kind of clausterphobic. When everyone comes over, I try and find a place to hide….. :blush:

    I am glad that this gives you and Erik a stress free holiday (It does for us too… the only thing that we have to do is Cook!)

    The only gift that I want I am getting! all of my family and friends get to come to my new house to celibrate the holiday and enjoy eachothers company!
