Their Outdoor Life

So, Aurora and Pilot have been outdoor cats for the past month or so now. It’s had it’s definite positive and negatives so far.

Positive:
They are getting a ton of exercise and have both appeared to slim down a bit. Watching them hunt bugs and such outside is unbelievably thrilling. The moment they step outside you see them light up!  They are getting fresh air and lots of sunlight.  They are notably bored now when they are stuck inside.
Negatives:
Aurora seems to be turning feral again and by feral I mean evil bitch wanting to attack everyone and everything. Pilot doesn’t always come in when we call him, unlike Aurora, and will end up staying outside all night. Sometimes he’ll show up outside our bedroom window at 3am crying.  Pilot seems a little strange lately and I may bring him to the vet, been coughing or something lately and a little out of it.  When you try to keep Aurora inside she gets pissed with a capital P.

They’ve been kept inside the past few days since the dead cat under our deck and we’re not sure how we’re going to handle it all.  I know we can’t keep them inside forever but maybe just early on weekends so we have more control over it.

I just wish you could reason with cats, that would make life so much easier.

The day a cat listens to a human will be the same day a dog refuses to drink out of a toilet!

My cat stays indoors mostly because he’s a big scaredy cat. At least I know he isn’t the one pooping in my garden!

Good luck with your cats!

Jlynn – Yeah, especially my cats. I just feel like a bad mommy…I want them to be happy but I want them to be safe.
