All the cool kids are doing it

So for a while now I’ve been trying to convince my bub to come into the world of blogging but I don’t think she’s ever really gotten comfortable. I’m convinced it would be a fulfilling hobby for her so I’ve taken it upon myself to teach her the ropes.

She’s started dabbling over here at the Black Hole but given that I believe I know better than everyone else I think she should get her blog on over at WordPress.com. Over at WordPress you get so many more options and I figure the nicer place you have to stay the more likely you’ll take your shoes off and get comfortable. Right?

I also thought she needs to come up with a really catchy idea for her blog, an interesting title that will make people interested to stop by. I know that I personally won’t give a blog the time of day if they have a title that doesn’t grab me.

My idea for her was The Other Side of Gemini because she’s a Gemini (big time) and Gemini’s have 2 sides. I figure she could really have fun with that and maybe even use 2 different personalities…maybe Gemini and The Other Side or something more interesting 😀

This weekend we’re having a night to hang out and I’m going to take the opportunity to give her the short version of Blogging for Dummies. Not that she’s a dummy in the slightest, if she were I’d keep her as far away from posting anything on the internet since there is enough of them out there already 😆

Fellow bloggers – any tips you’d give someone who wanted to start blogging?

buy a domain and get a real content manager…EE, MT, etc.

It’s a little bit of cash but nothing to break ya so if you give it up, you’re out about 65 bucks.

I would never tell someone to go to blogspot or something…crossing over to EE or MT or whatever is a pain in the ass. Best to start out where you’re gonna stay.

Miss Ann – How did I know you’d respond here? Oh yeah…because you’re just slightly opinionated 😛

Actually just last night I set my boyfriend up with a wordpress.com account and transfered his blogger over into that one, worked very nicely. I would have suggested she buy a domain if it weren’t for the fact she’s tried to start like 27 blogs in 1 year 😀 I see no point in buying it all until you know it’s something you want to stick with but it’s her call.

I think your wordpress.com idea is the best idea; minimum input, and in case she doesn’t want to keep going, she can quit with no fee repercussions!
