He can deliver my pizza anytime
Erik and I were looking for something fun to watch but nothing too over-the-top. I wasn’t in the mood for anything too serious or too stupid at the time (I can thank good ol TOM for that). So due to the fact I accidentally had a movie we’d already seen the week before come through Netflix and the CSI dvd we got had only 1 episode we hadn’t seen already so it was On Demand for the night. None of the New Releases really grabbed us and I saw there was a section for IFC (Independent Film Channel) section, I knew that was where we were going to find that gold nugget.
That’s when I came across the movie Pizza, once I saw Ethan Embry was in it I was set for the night. If you didn’t realize it already Ethan was my die-hard crush from about 8th grade to 9th I think. I watched all his movies over and over, I wrote him letters, I swooned over pictures and I imagined how we’d meet one day and fall in love. While I don’t spend my free time writing stories of our love story anymore when I see him I get a little bit of a thrill, like I’m a teenager for that moment again. So now we had a movie that was an independent film and it starred Ethan Embry, how can I lose?
The movie was about an unpopular girl celebrating her 18th birthday by having a party with her mom that nobody showed up for. Just when she thinks her birthday is going to be pathetic Matt the “pizza boy” shows up and he takes her out for the night of her life. Cara-Ethyl and Matt have a very sweet chemistry with just enough of that real kind of awkward tension to make it feel real. I couldn’t help but be brought back to the feeling of being a lonely teenager waiting for life to really begin and the agony to end.
Sadly the movie is not on Netflix so if you want to see it I’m not sure how to find it but if you ever do come across it I recommend checking it out. We found it on On Demand but I’d like to believe eventually this movie will leak out. Nothing is better than a sweet coming-of-age dramedy with a very sexy pizza delivery guy 😉
