Or at least it makes a fool out of many of us. Last year I pulled off a pretty sneaky April Fools Joke but nobody seemed to find it very funny. I emailed my family and Manly Man’s family to tell them I was leaving him. I told them I would help him with the rent (I didn’t want MIL going off on me about that) but that it just wasn’t going to work anymore.
Luckily BIL and SIL were on vacation so they completely missed this little prank but my mother, father, MIL and FIL were all on the receiving end. To my surprise MIL and FIL weren’t all that surprised. They responded saying they were sorry and they would miss me. I guess I was hoping for a “are you sure? Maybe you can try to work it out! You guys are so perfect for each other!” but instead they just accepted what I had to say. My father had a similar response but hey that’s my dad. My mother on the other hand was really upset apparently and all day was really sad to not have Manly Man as a part of the family anymore.
So in the end I guess I ended up looking like the fool. I found out my boyfriend’s family were a little too ready for me to leave their son. I found out I devastated my mother for hours and I still apologize to her for it. Oh and yeah Manly Man was pretty much appalled at doing all of this behind his back and made sure everyone knew he had nothing to do with it.
Yeah, an intelligent person might take the hint and lay off the April Fools hoopla…we’ll see;)
