A joke isn’t a joke without a punchline, right? You setup a joke, lame or not, and it has an ending be it funny or maybe ironic. Why did the chicken cross the road? To get the other side. Ok so that joke is not exactly funny but you get it right? It’s like 1+1=2 but not with The Aristocrats.
I hadn’t heard about the aristcrats joke until a few months ago when I heard about the documentary. Tonight, thanks to Netflix, I finally got to see this little journey into the big joke between comedians. The only problem with this “joke” is when you get to the punchline you are left bewildered and a little violated.
The basic of the joke goes: a husband and wife walk into a talent agent with their son, daughter and dog…at least that is usually how it goes. It usually involves incest, bodily fluids and even beastiality. When you get to the end of the joke the agent asks what the act is called and they all say “The Aristocrats!” Yeah, you really aren’t supposed to get it.
From watching the documentary I came to the conclusion it’s more like a game than a joke. Who can drag the joke out the longest and make it the most disgusting? The most shocking part of this documentary is probably watching Bob Saget (from Full House) take the joke further than it had ever been taken before. Although hearing Bob Saget use theword cunt at all is a hard pill to swallow. Did I just use the word swallow in this review?
If you have the balls just go see rent it yourself.
