A Bath is the Best Cure

There must be quite a few things that a hot bath won’t cure, but I don’t know many of them.

Ginger Andrews, in her poem “The Cure,” says the cure for the “mulleygrubs” is to “get up and bake a cake. If that doesn’t do it, put on a red dress.”

It’s kind of sad, because maybe if Plath had put a cake into the oven, she’d not have felt the need to put her head into it.

Whatever the bath didn’t cure, that oven sure did! Poor Sylvia!
