Kinsey was a powerful movie and I learned so much about the history of research on human sexuality. I’m not surprised that so many people were afraid to learn the truth about human sexulity but I was surprised to find out that Alfred Kinsey (played by Liam Neeson) was able to start such an uproar. I guess the best way to say it is I was expecting the topics of sexuality that was discussed in the movie not to shock 😯 me as much as it did which for 1948 really blows my mind.
I think what I really loved about Kinsey was not so much the depths of his research and all his sex interviews through the film but the range of sexuality he brought into his personal life. He believed that love was one thing and sex was something else entirely. He also was very comfortable crossing the line of heterosexuality and homosexuality. Any other man might expect his wife to do as he says not as he does but he encouraged her to branch out as well.
The film was beautiful and the actors really light up the screen from Neeson to Linney to Sarsgaard. I was looking for an emotional movie that would get me thinking as well and this was what I was looking for.
