The Writer Within

You know, a lot of people when they visit their parent hear the usual: “when are you getting married?” or “when are you having kids?” but what I always hear is “when are you going start submitting your writing?” 😕

Both my father and my Sprout looked at me and wondered what exactly was keeping me from writing a few articles in my free time and submitting them to newspapers and magazines. To be honest I didn’t really have much of an answer but luckily my mother could understand. In essence as she put it life just gets in the way. You work hard 8 hours a day 5 days a week and spent 10 hours commuting a week. When the weekend arrives on top of all the errands and cleaning one needs to catch up on from the work week you also want to just…well do nothing.

So I think I can at least sneak in a good 1/2 hour a night to do some real writing, besides my blog, and an hour here and there on the weekend. Hey, what good is having a pretty little laptop if you can’t make use of it?

What a great response from your family. With their support I’m sure you can accomplish anything.
I can’t wait to read your submissions, if you decide to submit them or not.

I get the same comments from my family. “When are you going to do something with your artistic talent?” I tell them I’ll do it when I can get paid to do what I like in a painting, sketch, or photo, and not what someone else wants me to do for them.

I have an idea of the article I want to write although everytime I’ve tried to write it it’s overwhelmed me a lot.

Crystal – I hear ya on that.
