Scary movies and their lifelong impact

Writing Prompt: What image from a scary movie stuck with you the longest?

I wish there were only one scary movie that stuck with me for life but there are a few so I decided to briefly mention the ones that are still fresh in my mind like a feverish chill running up your back.

One movie was Critters which my parents thought was great to show me right before I went away for a 2 week sleepover camp. Those little evil creatures (or critters if you will) that scurried around and ate people. I still remember vividly the scene where a young couple is getting it on in a barn while listening to That’s Why They Call it the Blues by Elton John (which almost scarred me with that song) and one of the critters goes and eats the guy. I guess it could be worse I could have been scarred from sex all together.

Another movie was one I don’t even remember the name (I really should figure it out someday) but I think there were a group of people staying at a house for what I believe was a party. The only problem was that there was someone at the party that decided to kill everyone. I just remember at one point someone finding a head in the toilet and for the longest time I had to double check there wasn’t a head in our toilet.

The biggest effect on me though I’d say was the movie Night of the Creeps which was about some kind of slugs from outer space. They made this earie screaching noise as they slithered quickly along the ground. They would go inside people’s bodies and turn them into killing zombies. I’ve always hates slugs but now I am afraid of them.

So what’s the moral of this Writing Prompt? Be careful what horror movies you show your kid 😉

Arrgh! I don’t watch scary movies anymore, because those scenes do stick with me forever.

One that I remember from my childhood must have been a movie that was on TV, after us kids had gone to bed, but that no one was watching, because I can’t imagine my mom watching it… But, I had woke up for some reason & gone down to the living room & there, on the TV, was a doll that had come to life & was terrorizing the family. (And, this was pre-Chuckie, so I’m not sure what the movie was). Yikes! The memory of that scene would keep me up nights, watching my dolls to make sure they weren’t moving.

LOL I remember the movie the “Night of the Creeps”!

Detective Cameron: Well, girls, the good news is your dates are here.
Sorority Sister: What’s the bad news?
    Detective Cameron: They’re dead.

LOL I seem to remember there was another line that I thought was funny but I couldn’t find it!

    I LOVE scary movies!!

The first movie that I saw that was a “scary” movie was Friday the 13th part 2… I was 6 years old and the baby sitter was watching it. I came in and watched it with her… the only part that made me upset in any way was the part were Jason kills the cute dog (some kind of lap dog with long hair). At the very end of the movie there was a scene were the last remaining couple were hiding in a cabin from Jason and they hear a scratching at the door they don’t know what it is and think that it is Jason. So as they open the door the little dog runs in… It made me cry! I was so happy to see the puppy come in I didn’t think about Jason jumping through the window so I screamed bloody murder when he did. After that I went back to being happy that the dog made it… (The mind of a child LOL)

Another movie that comes to mind is Dawn of the Dead.. I think that it was around the same age 6 or so when taping became huge… I remember my dad taped the Ewolk adventure on the same tape he had Dawn of the dead. So I put the tape in and hit play. It started to play the following scene a team of police were in the basement of a building shooting people. Then they go up some stairs and they have a woman with them. A door busts open and a big man that was missing an arm comes slamming thought a door. The woman screams Oh Henry and runs and hugs him and he bites her tearing her shoulder to shreds. At this point my dad came in and showed me how to rewind the tape to show the movie that I wanted to see. LOL

I am still a glutton for punishment I love them all. Oh I suggest that if you like really hot guys.. And I know you do.. 😉 you need to see the new The Amityville Horror with Ryan Reynolds he is hot! You know me and the face fur! 😛

Yeah I know you and face fure…it’s funny how I’m the opposite. I like guys with the teenage no facial hair look. I have issues with guys and hair. I also can’t stand long hair and told Erik that is the only thing he cannot do…I won’t be able to stand it.

    What were we talking about?

Oh scary movies…the last movie to sare me was Saw.

Hmmmmm Saw didn’t scare me it freaked me out! I kept thinking I can’t believe someone could do what the killer was doing… then I started to think I can’t believe someone wrote this story..
