Deconstructing men on Oprah

So Oprah today was featuring 3 guys who answered questions women wanted to know about men. While watching this I really wished I wasn’t a “woman” because are these really questions women want to know about men?

Why do men cheat? The real question would be why does anyone cheat? I think mainly people cheat because they are looking for something that is missing from their relationship. I guess some people probably cheat just for the fun of it…for the excitement. I’m pretty sure women cheat almost as much as men.

Why don’t men like to cuddle after sex?
Again I don’t believe that is just a man thing. A lot of the time the last thing I want to do is cuddle. You’re all hot and sweaty (if you did it right) and you want to cool off. Do most women need to cuddle after sex? Maybe I am just a tomboy.

Why do men go to strip clubs?
It’s funny…I don’t see this as a big deal. If my boyfriend wanted to go to one with some friends I’d completely trust him. If you have trust in your relationship then what is wrong with a strip club? I mean women at a male strip club is a hell of a lot worse don’t you think?

Why do men watch porn?
Well I ask…why do women have vibrators? Enough said.

I think that asking these questions is kind of like asking, “why do people believe stereotypes?” because well, all of these are stereotypes. I can’t believe that TV shows are still “exploring” these topics. If you really want to know more about men, why don’t you ask a gay one; I am sure it will be an interesting and informative perspective! Take that Oprah!

Uggh! I hate male/female stereotypes, too. They drive me insane. I think that they actually belittle men & their ability to be emotional, nurturing beings. Society tells us that men/women should be a certain way, so many of us act that way, in order to avoid being shunned by society, hiding our true natures, leaving large parts of our lives unlived, unexplored. Yuck!
