Why I Hate the Beach
A lot of people out there love the beach…really love it. I mean some people plan their entire day around going to the beach and for whatever reason they feel it’s a great way to spend the day. As I see most things…to each’s own right?
So my friend asked me today “why do you hate the beach?” which is a legitimate question since it’s something most people enjoy. So I decided I’d make a post out of it.
1. I’m Irish – I have pale skin and freckles (which I am very proud of) which means I burn to a crisp after 15 minutes in the sun. To stay out in the sun for any real period of time it requires the highest level of sun block but it gets annoying putting it on every 1/2 hour. Last time I went to the beach (over 2 years ago for a bachelorette party) I used an umbrella which made it much more enjoyable.
2. Bathing suits – I don’t really want to see chunky women in bathing suits so why should I subject anyone? I end up just feeling self-conscious and unhappy.
3. Sand – Sand is so frustrating. It gets everywhere and seems to take days to get rid of from some places. When a wind blows sand flies into your face.
4. The Heat – When I have the sun beating down on me it makes me sick. I end up getting extremely tired and often a headache. Oh and that bottle of ice water you brought turns into warm water within hours and that’s about when I dehydrate.
I do however love the beach at night…
