I have had numerous fights online (friends, online friends, etc.) and it’s really unfortunate how easy this really happens. It’s so easy to take a comment the wrong way and before you know it shit is flying everywhere. I think that is why I try to add in
or a “lol” or something like ((sarcasm)) after things I say JUST so the other person doesn’t take it the wrong way.
2 of the biggest fights I’ve had with a friend from college was through email and we didn’t speak to each other for months at a time. When we finally got on the phone it all got cleared up.
I’ve fought with my boyfriend over im (way back at the beginning of our relationship) and I honestly can’t remember what in the world we fought about. I’m sure if we’d just talked over the phone or in person it never would have happened.
I think the only ways to avoid it is to either ask upfront (what did you mean by that?) or give them a jingle. I think the internet has given us so many advantages but possibly nearly as many disadvantages.
